Hey Everyone,
So today I went to Howe Caverns in the Catskill Mountains. In case you don't know, Howe Caverns are deep under ground caves. Pretty cool, actually.
Now all of this seems cool and awesome, but with some pros, comes some cons. For one, they built stuff into it like a walkway and railings and telephones. That takes away some of the natural beauties of the cave. Some of the things were actually man made, not made by water like the beautiful rest of the cave.
Now I don't want to seem like I'm just ranting and raving, but there is one more con. At the beginning we go over some rules. One of those rules was that no touching the walls of the cave. If you touch the cave it stops it from growing, which you don't want...
Part of the tour is a boat ride. The way the tour guides steer the boat is by pushing off the walls. Why can they break the rules that can get us thrown out? Now that wasn't the only thing that bugged me about the boat ride. I think the boat ride had no point to it at all. The tour guides didn't talk the whole time we were on the boat! Silly tour guides.
Well, let's talk about the good stuff now. It seemed as though the tour guides were knew what they were talking about and knew how to throw humor in at times.
Another pro: They had more than just a cave, they had a ropes course, zip-line and a place where you could mine for rocks! How cool!
Overall, Howe Caverns would be a good place if your looking for something to do. Just make sure you don't bring anyone who could go Cave Crazy!
Later,
Fun Gal
